Original WW2 German Concentration Camp Letter - Dutch prisoner in Polizeiliches Durchgangslager Amersfoort (1944)

Two letters from a Dutch prisoner from Rotterdam, born in 1907. In January 1944 he was sent to the concentration camp PDA Amersfoort. In October 1944 he was deported to the concentration camp of Neuengamme in Germany. He died there in the Kdo. Meppen-Versen in January 1945.

He had people in hiding in his home, the Germans caught him and because of this, he was sent to Amersfoort. In his letter, he writes to his wife that another prisoner also had people in hiding and that he was set free from Amersfoort after 6 months. In the letters, he also writes about movies he saw within the concentration camp.

Twee brieven van een Nederlandse gevangene uit Rotterdam, geboren in 1907. In januari 1944 werd hij naar het concentratiekamp PDA Amersfoort gestuurd. In oktober 1944 werd hij gedeporteerd naar het concentratiekamp Neuengamme in Duitsland. Hij stierf daar in de Kdo. Meppen-Versen in januari 1945.

Hij had onderduikers in zijn huis, de Duitsers pakten hem op en daarom werd hij naar kamp Amersfoort gestuurd. In zijn brief schrijft hij aan zijn vrouw dat een andere gevangene ook onderduikers had en dat hij na zes maanden uit Amersfoort werd vrijgelaten. In de brieven schrijft hij ook over films die hij in het concentratiekamp heeft gezien.
